Your set up for your events is a very important part to drawing in customers. Too plain and customers may just walk right by you - I shall share with you how I avoid that!
The first thing, you should brand yourself, logo, color theme etc. For example I have my banner with logo with my colors being green and blue - so naturally I have green table cloths and try to match all my shelves, and display stands to match. I have neon green table cloths so people can see my booth from far away, drawing them in the second they enter the fair.
The second tip, have prices displayed clearly at your tables. If a customer has to ask the price, they may just put it back down out. Make it clear and visible. I have also noticed when you do certain deals like 2 for $5 or something similar, people will buy that extra item as it feels like a deal. I know I do. As long as you have the room in your profit margin, it's always a good idea.
Third - most of these craft fairs are families with their kids walking around, so if kids find your booth interesting it will bring the parents to your booth as well. While all my items are kid friendly, I make stuff for all ages. I also have a cool treasure chest by my table so when they make a purchase, they get something free from the treasure chest. This is something the kids love! I have also done the mini resin ducks which were a huge hit!
Now that we talked about the vision of your setup, let's get to the manual labor that none of us enjoy lol.
Setting up and taking down your booth is always tough especially when 90 degrees out in the sun. It's hot, stuff seems heavier, and you are sweating your butt off. Make it easier on yourself and buy the things needed for easy set up.
I have a large wagon that folds up and goes right in the car. It is 100% worth it, you load all your heavy tables and canopy and such into the wagon and wheel it on over to your spot. I have been looking at larger wagons myself with how many bins I have, but my first wagon was just right from walmart, affordable and durable.
Another must is a canopy! It will protect your crafts from the weather - rain, sun, etc. and give customers some shade from the heat. A lot of people have canopy walls to help against the window as well.
Find display items that work for your craft and get creative! I use pen holders, wooden crates which I turn around so it's a shelf but the inside faces me which I put my bags and cards in. Almost like a checkout stand. I have a keychain spin stand, also very resourceful. You can use peg boards, wire shelfs, acrylic stands etc.
Another item I am still working on getting myself, is something to keep cool during the fair. I have seen some people with the large outdoor fans from home depot, others have the neck fans. I haven't found something that works for me yet, but I highly recommend some sort of fan and fan mister.
Once you get in the groove it will get easier to set up, and you will get into a flow!
